Daleel Petroleum Launches “Wathiqa” Electronic Document and Records Management System
In line with its commitment to enhancing work processes and strengthening knowledge management, Daleel Petroleum has launched its new electronic Document and Records Management System, Wathiqa, which went live in September 2025. The system is designed to streamline the storage and retrieval of company documents and records in full compliance with the standards of the National Records and Archives Authority.
This milestone marks the culmination of efforts that began in 2021, when the company initiated the development of an integrated and sustainable document management framework in collaboration with the Authority. In 2022, a joint committee was established to set the system’s core policies and to develop the company’s Document Management Manual and retention timeframe.
In 2024, the company carried out its first official disposal of records whose retention periods had expired, in coordination with the National Records and Archives Authority and in accordance with approved standards. To date, 3,811 boxes (39,261 files) have been sorted, with 454 boxes (6,829 files) still in progress, and 3,225 files destroyed in collaboration with the Authority.
The Wathiqa system is now undergoing evaluation and testing by the National Records and Archives Authority to ensure full compliance with technical and regulatory requirements. Meanwhile, the company has begun the first phase of employee training ahead of rolling the system out across all departments.
Daleel Petroleum affirms that the launch of this system represents a major step forward in digital transformation for document and records management. It underscores the company’s commitment to adopting best practices in data and information preservation, strengthening institutional knowledge, and supporting Oman’s national direction toward modern digital governance.
